After spending years behind the decks,
Chook started working on the production side of Drum and Bass. Wanting to create something really special; he moved to London and completed a sound engineering course, helping to increase and enhance his engineering proficiency, which is apparent in his productions and the support given from the scenes leading deejays including Cause4Concern, Noisia, Ed Rush, Black Sun Empire, Phace, Misanthrop, Mayhem and many more. This ear for quality has seen him release ‘Descend’ on Atlanta based
Shadow Law Recordings, known for their eye for excellence, his tracks ‘Trainspot’, ‘Retrograde’ or ’Sound of time’ received huge acclamation as well as releases on
Syndrome Audio and
Full Force. After the great success of his collab with Phace he began working on his debut LP forthcoming end of 2009.
Chook also runs his own imprint
Full Force together with ‘DJ Radic’, showcasing some of the scenes leading artists, as well his own productions which have helped to make the imprint one of the scenes highest calibre labels to date.
Chook began DJ’ing in 1995, playing hip hop at the time, he mainly
focused on developing his scratching and turntablism techniques. Within two years of this, he started mixing Drum and Bass. He then converted his hip hop and turntablism skills to this sound, increasingly perfecting his mixing abilities, then in 2003,
Chook entered the extremely coveted and competitive, ‘Movement DJ competition’ held at ‘The End’, London; going on to be a finalist in the competition.
While on a short stay in London,
Chook ability was quickly snatched up and he was given a residency at the ‘DFX’ nights in Brixton. Now with 14 years of experience under his belt and an amazing mixing technique he’s been the preferred artist to headline events in many cities internationally including London, Cologne, Rome, Sheffield, Gent, Porto, Budapest, Omsk and more.
Chook has the ability to build a diverse set within the Neurofunk and Techstep sub genres as well as tech-house and techno, utilizing scratching and turntablism techniques to create the ultimate party vibe for your event.
